In response to me wondering whether this chunk would be easier or harder to write than the others, the answer is: harder, kind of. Partly because it’s actually two more iterations of the same scene instead of just one, partly because I took the chance to polish chunks of the stuff I’ve been doing for the last two weeks (wasn’t too happy with some of it), and partly because it involves Aura.
Any scenes involving Aura usually require extra care due to her particular personality. She’s a weird person even in this setting, and it’s sometimes tricky writing someone who depending on the topic can come off as either mature and wise or just completely oblivious. Not that I dislike writing her, quite the contrary, but it does take longer than usual to get her lines right.
I’m not really done with this chunk yet, as I’ve yet to actually implement this into the game (it’s all sitting in text files), but I ought to be done with this by tomorrow. With this, I will have finished everything save the conclusion, though I plan to take a break from writing to do some playtesting. I’ve been doing writing non-stop for a while, and I fear it might start to come out forced if I just keep trucking. Hacking through the inevitable slew of bugs I’ll be finding should let me get back to writing the end chunk with a clearer head.
